“I don’t wanna close my eyes
I don’t wanna fall asleep
‘Cause I’d miss you, baby
And I don’t wanna miss a thing”
Truer words have never been sung than that of the Aerosmith Armageddon theme song, I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing. While the song is 15 years old, the meaning of the lyrics (primarily the chorus) could not be truer today.
Today has been dubbed Mobilegeddon by the online masses. But wait, what could possibly be so monumental that we’d dare compare it to the moment when we realise (SPOILER ALERT) Bruce Willis had died so Ben Affleck could live on and become Batman? Well, dear reader, today is the day that Google are updating their algorithms to favour those websites who are friends to mobile devices.
Since Google broke the information in February, developers all over the globe have been working in a constant state of panic to ensure that their websites are mobile ready. If not, the results could see their rankings suffer. Google said;
“This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.”
While the search behemoth have provided developers with some handy how to guides to make their websites compliant with the new algorithms, the big question is… are you mobile ready?
