5 Times Deadpool Won At Marketing

5. This is no ordinary Superhero movie..

In 32 days, let’s cuddle the shit out of each other. #Deadpool

The official release date for the Deadpool movie falls around Valentines Day. Valentines Day weekend tends to be monopolised by romantic comedies and dramas. Deadpool doesn’t stand a chance, wouldn’t you say? Well, this thought obviously went through someones mind. Queue.. Deadpool: True Love Never Dies, a love story coming to a cinema near you this Valentines. The marketing squad certainly ramped the campaign up a notch with this one. Marketing a generally NSFW Superhero smash as a romantic drama? Genius! We think more than one cinema goer will be a little confused in the theatre…

4. So Much Teasing…

For a while now, this movie has been a bit of ‘will it, won’t it?’ since Deadpool’s involvement with the X-Men franchise (no more shall be said on that one…). So with the premier fast approaching, what better way to gain some traction than with suitable digs at the ones who very nearly ended the dream? Let’s face it, this is one of the greatest teaser trailers ever!

3. Cheerio Fourth Wall…

Deadpool has always been a fantastic character for breaking the fourth wall. For those of you wondering what I’m talking about, breaking the fourth wall consists of a character in a movie actively speaking and engaging with their audience (me and you ?). The man in red is not one to shy away from his audience, the opposite in fact so expect some epic film immersion!

2. Traditional Advertising with a Modern Twist…

#TeamParachute loves a good emoji, sometimes words just aren’t enough! So we were nothing short of thrilled to see this amazing billboard promoting the movie. It’s certainly one way to get people’s attention.

1.  Mr Deadpool, himself…

With the epic success of Marvel these past few years (Iron Man, Captain America, Avengers etc), one thing they’ve learned is that having the starpower behind a movie will certainly draw in the crowds. Now while most characters we’ve seen thus far have fulfilled their contractual obligations of the Comic-Con panel and endless chat shows, no-one promotes their own movie quite like Ryan Reynolds AKA Deadpool. Check out his social feeds and, to be honest, it seems like the man genuinely believes he IS Deadpool…
